Thailand’s SF Cinema Launches “Space Basil Chicken Popcorn” Inspired by CP’s Space Food Standard

Thailand’s SF Cinema has introduced a new cinema snack inspired by one of the country’s most iconic flavors — Basil Chicken.

The limited collaboration with Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) turns the familiar Thai dish into a new popcorn seasoning concept called “Space Basil Chicken Popcorn.”

A classic Thai street-food flavor is now appearing in an unexpected place: the cinema popcorn bucket.

The product takes inspiration from CP’s basil chicken breast menu, which previously received certification under the Space Food Standard, a food safety and preparation framework designed for food suitable for space missions.

Thai Basil Chicken Flavor Meets Cinema Popcorn

The new popcorn combines SF Cinema’s premium popcorn base with seasoning inspired by Thai basil chicken (Pad Krapao Gai) — a widely recognized Thai dish known for its spicy, garlicky, and aromatic basil flavor profile.

Instead of the usual butter or caramel, this version leans into the bold savoury taste of Thailand’s beloved pad krapao.

According to SF Cinema, the collaboration aims to introduce a distinct Thai flavor into the cinema snack category while offering moviegoers something different from traditional popcorn flavours.

CPF noted that the flavor concept is derived from its space-standard-certified basil chicken product, highlighting Thailand’s food innovation and its ability to meet international food safety benchmarks.

Available Nationwide in Thailand

The Space Basil Chicken Popcorn is now available at SF Cinema branches across Thailand, including purchases at cinema counters as well as through online ordering and delivery platforms.

For moviegoers, it turns a familiar cinema snack into something unmistakably Thai — with a small space-themed twist behind the flavor.
